WHO?
This trip is designed for the traveler with an adventurous spirit and a passion for new flavors in food that are still made the way they were generations before them. Malaysian food is deeply connected to its people and culture. Most of the time spent in Malaysia will be in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, the country’s capital. KL’s main food experience is a marriage of three major cuisines: Malay, Chinese, and Indian. The flavors and fusions of these incredible cuisines are limitless, and the layers of flavor will leave you wondering and wanting more! With new flavors come new textures and food combinations, and trust me, all three cultures love their heat. Being open to new flavors, textures, and degrees of spiciness are the ingredients to having an amazing experience on this Adventure. Malaysia is a developing country with practices and cultural differences that differ from others. It’s important that the travelers on this trip enjoy walking (physically able to be on their feet for longer periods), like the heat (85-90°F with 70-90% humidity year-round), have an open-mindedness to new experiences and food, and seek to understand and learn about religion, culture, and languages. This Adventure is a LOW-frills trip. We will be visiting a number progressive cafes and high-end restaurants to experience their version of Western pop culture and shop at a number of their legendary sky-high malls like KLCC. However, the majority of the food experience will be with the locals at their shops, hawker stalls, and daily life locations. Expect red plastic chairs and chopsticks, the hustle and bustle of local night markets, cooking classes, and seeing Malaysia’s history and origins. Depending on group decisions, on certain days there may be hiking and other physical activities
We like it small and personalized. Up to 6 guests will be traveling with Maalek & local guides! (have more than 6? Contact us for larger groups!)
